to not write a book or create a film explaining the techniques
of the Son Long Quyên Thuat school. This text is
therefore not a “manuel” describing in detail this
martial art, but rather a brief explanation of the different
parts of training. It is a summary of the work done in the Võ rooms
and can therefore not replace the essential contact between Master
and student.

In the beginning, the Vô schools garded well their secrets:
novices were only accepted if they were recomended by someone from
the school and they had to match very strict criteria of admission.
They were then tested for many years. The teaching was often incomplete
so that the student could not really fight or turn against the
school or his Master. Võ was used for self-defense against
many aggressions as it was often the only way for villagers to
defend themselves against thieves.
Võ was part of a brutal reality of everyday life: survival. ![]() In the present day, civilisation, technology and communication methods have changed certain aspects of Võ. It remains a very complete fighting technique, but is considered more like a sport that many people exercise for personal well-being.
